How Do You Know if You’re Trying Too Hard?
When I have this conversation with the ladies inside School of Love, we often talk about it like a feeling.
Being attuned with our intentions and noticing when we feel like we are forcing a connection.
It’s a dance between showing your interest and leaning back. And not always an easy dance at that.
So for the more challenging times, it can be helpful to take a look at the facts:
How many times have you initiated contact with him? How many times has he?
How many times have you suggested getting together? How many times has he?
How many times have you switched up your schedule to accommodate his? How many times has he done the same?
While I don’t believe in keeping count in love, it can be a helpful tool to shed light on (and turn off) your fear.
The other day a client of mine grappled with a similar question. So I asked her if it felt reciprocal to get in touch with him right now.
When she reflected on it that way, she saw that it absolutely was.
He had been consistently showing up and getting in touch, and it felt very “reciprocal” to call him up.
At the end of the day, you don’t have to overthink it. It often comes down to a feeling.
You know if you’re trying a little too hard because you’re afraid of “losing this one”.
When you notice yourself in that space, dig a little into your fear and lean back for the answer of your most empowered self.
She always knows the way.
With love,
Diana
