You Gotta Be Plugged In To Be Turned On
The other day I was having a conversation with a married girlfriend who was telling me about the chaos of her life. She's busy, tired and disconnected from her husband - which isn't all that surprising. She's working and scheduling herself to exhaustion and taking little (to no) time to connect with herself. Essentially, she's fallen out of connection, period. And to connect with someone else, she needs to be plugged in to be turned on - physically, mentally and emotionally.
Abraham Hicks often uses the analogy of a toaster. She explains that you can put the bread in the toaster over and over again, but so long as it isn't plugged in, the bread won't get toasted. Yet somehow, we forget that the same applies for us as humans.
When you go through your day on autopilot, checking off items on your "to-do"list, with no rest, no pause and no time to take care of your own basic needs, you've "turned off" and are unlikely to connect with your lover at the end of a long exhausting day. Now imagine if this goes on for days, weeks, months and years.
We are so much more than our physical bodies. We are more than our goals and our achievements. And it's imperative to remember that there's another part of us that is non-physical that needs some tending to, as well. A true connection with someone else is made from our hearts and our inner beings, not just our physical bodies.
Alignment, or "plugging in" is about connecting with the non-physical YOU; that peaceful, loving part of you that's patiently waiting for you to remember your true nature. You see you're not a human doing, you're a human being. And in order to live your life fully, to experience connection with yourself, and with another, you need to create space to simply be (note to self).
Plugging in for you and me may look entirely different. To connect with myself, I meditate, take deep breaths, journal, read, take walks and enjoy the simple pleasures in my day. When we plug in, slow down, take time to breathe and take care of the most important person in our respective lives (our selves), we step into an energy that is ready to receive love - and share it too.
You need to disconnect to connect, and get plugged in to be turned on.
Peace, love and plugging in,
Diana
